Associate Pastor for Outreach

 
R ev. Mark S. Barclay serves as the Associate Pastor for Outreach and provides intentional ministry to the community of Trinity United Church of Christ, such as Lowden Homes, Roseland, and Auburn Gresham. Rev. Barclay has a passion for outreach and the liberation of God’s people, working with boys, girls, men, and women seeking to impact change and provide the love of Jesus Christ!
 

Rev. Mark holds a Bachelor in Psychology from Chicago State University, a Masters of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary. He is a member of the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Scholars: African-Centered Religious Thought and Ministry cohort graduating in the spring from McCormick Theological Seminary. This cohort will transform leadership and prepare the next generation of leaders to challenge injustices and guide our country towards justice, peace, healing, and freedom for all people. In addition to ministry, Rev. Mark is also an accomplished tradesman, graduating in 1991 from Washburne Trade School where he majored in painting and decorating.

 

Rev. Mark is married to the love of his life, Paula, and he is a devoted father to three daughters, Alexis, Sydni, and Candace, and grandfather to an amazing grandson, Kaiden.

 

Rev. Mark’s hobbies include martial arts instructor, weight training, and movie buff. He is also a Taekwondo third degree black belt and Hapkido first degree black belt. His favorite scripture is John 3:16 (KJV): “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
