Maundy Thursday Service commemorates the washing of the feet of the disciples by Jesus and Last Supper of Jesus, the night before the Crucifixion.

The word maundy comes from the Middle English word, “maunde,” the Old French “mandé,” and from Latin “mandatum” meaning command, order; from the words spoken by Jesus to his disciples after washing their feet at the Last Supper, “a new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another.”
